The Clicsite Project: What's it about and who's in it?
CLICsites are community hubs. They provide the staff, programs,
services and
technology to assist individuals in connecting
to learning, business, career and
voluntary sector services
and supports. They demonstrate cross sectoral community
collaboration to facilitate both individual and community
capacity building.
Individuals walking in the door to a clicsite could be looking
for information, a career change , a workplace certification,
a seniors service, a university program, a job,
a virtual
meeting facility, photocopy and fax services, public internet
access, a
meeting room, a videoconference presentation or
access to any service that is not
readily available in their
community and are looking for connections.
The original CLICsites - in the Three Hills
Municipal Library and the Hanna Learning
Centre were funded
under Rural Alberta's Development fund to demonstrate
community
collaboration that would build rural capacity, in a transferable
model that could be utilized provincially. A joint venture
of the Town of Three Hills, the Hanna Learning Centre and
the Three Hills Library Board, these centers will give residents
in
east-central Alberta better access to and expanded value
from Alberta's SuperNet.
